Studio Policy
MY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marcus will teach students the language of music in a positive and enthusiastic environment. It is his goal to empower each student to influence their music education with input based on their interest and long-term goals. He will tailor the curriculum to match each student's specific learning needs.
STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Students: Students agree to arrive punctually and well-prepared. To make good progress, daily quality practice is required. All students are encouraged to play at the studio recitals and take auditions for local ensembles and competitions. If an opportunity arises, please bring information to the next lesson so that Marcus can help your student prepare.
Parents: If your child is 10 years or younger, it is encouraged for you to participate in the lesson to help your child have a better understanding of how/what they should be practicing at home. If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child, please let Marcus know. The more information he has, the more he can be sensitive to the needs of your child.
Required Materials: All students must be prepared with their own instrument (instrument, bow, case, shoulder rest, rosin), tuner/metronome (you may use an app), music stand, sheet music, and pencil. Students must have all books/print outs or materials within two weeks after they have been assigned.
Students must have their own instrument to practice at home. If you have questions about renting/purchasing an instrument, please let Marcus know. He is happy to set appointments to meet the student and their family for instrument trials and make specific recommendations.
TUITION AND SCHEDULE
Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.
*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.
Tuition is calculated per hour lesson. Tuition may vary by month in the case that there is an additional week of lessons or in the case of Marcus's own pre-planned absence.
Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.
Preferred method of payment is Zelle. There is a $10 service fee for each Credit Card Payment.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a make up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make up lesson for that month.
Make up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition. Lessons canceled by Marcus will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, Marcus may switch an in-person lesson to a virtual lesson if road conditions are not safe to travel.
To terminate lessons, Marcus must be given a 30 day notice of termination in writing (text or email). Lack of notice will result in a payment charge for the following month.
COMMITMENT
When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.
If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.
Fall Term - September through December
Spring Term - January through May
Summer Term - June through August
Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
SOCIAL MEDIA, PHOTO, AND VIDEO RELEASE FORM.
Marcus may use photos and short videos of students on the studio website or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let him know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on the website or social media. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
By enrolling and paying tuition for my child with Marcus Brodsky at Sky String Studios, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2022/2023 school year.
